Day 1: Welcome to Oaxaca City! After settling in, immerse yourself in the heartbeat of the city by visiting the Zócalo. Explore the majestic cathedral and the historic Plaza Santo Domingo. Lose yourself in the colorful markets, and savor the local flavors in the famous Mercado 20 de Noviembre.

Day 2: Today takes us to the ancient city of Monte Albán, a breathtaking Zapotec site that offers not only a glimpse into a powerful civilization but also panoramic views of the valleys below. After our private tour, we will delve into the culinary soul of Oaxaca with a hands-on experience that will elevate your appreciation for its world-famous mole negro.

We will spend the afternoon at the home kitchen of Minerva Lopez. Together with Minerva’s guidance, we’ll grind, roast, blend, and unlock the rich, complex layers of flavor that define this Oaxacan masterpiece. As we cook, we’ll indulge in chapulines, mezcal cocktails, and more.

Day 3: Today we will visit the world famous village of Teotitlán del Valle, renowned for its exquisite handwoven textiles. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to meet local artisans and witness their time-honored techniques as we participate in a natural dyes workshop.

After our workshop, we will have a delicious lunch with the local community.

Our day continues with a deep dive into the world of mezcal. We’ll visit a traditional palenque, where you’ll learn about the meticulous process behind this iconic spirit, with plenty of opportunities to taste and enjoy.

Day 4: For our last full day in Oaxaca, you have the option of staying in the city and exploring on your own, or go on an optional add-on excursion: a day trip to Puerto Escondido! (+$250 USD).

Our day trip van departs our hotel at 6:00am and arrives to Puerto approximately at 9:00am, we will spend the morning on a boat at sea, return for a seafood lunch, and spend the afternoon at one of the most famous beaches in Puerto before driving the 3 hours back to Oaxaca City. Breakfast snacks, lunch, transport, and boat fee are all included in the day trip cost. Dinner tonight when returning to the city is not included.

Day 5: After a final breakfast together, we begin our journeys home, carrying with us the unforgettable memories of beautiful Oaxaca.
